About Us

A message from the Commodore

It is my pleasure to welcome all members of the Lexington Boat Club. I am Bob Triplett, Commodore of the Club for the 2025-2026 season. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of our club in the past 2024-2025 season and look forward for another exciting season ahead.

Throughout the long history of the club, we have strived to give the members a wide selection of trips and activities for the members to enjoy. Your board and management team are committed to provide the best selection of activities, events and trips, both domestic and international.

As you all know, we developed a website 2 years ago now. The system contains the website for the LBC entitled lexboatclub.org. Please continue to acquaint yourself with the website as it is a conduit of communication and contains a significant amount of information about the LBC and its many services.

We also use an invitation software called GreenVelope to invite you to the various cruises and events LBC sponsors.  Please RSVP to the invitation asap when you make a decision on the trip.

As we begin our new season, I encourage you to volunteer to help us make our trips and events a very successful outcome. The LBC is your club …. we are here to provide the best trips and events for your club! I hope any member will provide input to help us better serve the members.

Thank you all….

Bob Triplett your Commodore

History of the Lexington Boat Club

The following history was taken from notes written by Rich Hill and Elner Dahl in January 2000.

In 1997, seven boaters went for a ride in Roger Duininck's new boat, and a week later former resident Doug Sloan approached a couple of the boaters about the idea of starting a boating and fishing club at Lexington. The idea was "you don't have to own a boat to belong" and three short years with a lot of help from a number of folks the Boat Club was born and became the place to be just behind golf and tennis.

Doug and Rich with Paul Wymer then started the club in 2000 with nearly 200 dues paying members.  The meetings were setup monthly for the first Tuesday of each month with cookies and refreshments.

Those who helped back them besides Elner, Rich, Doug, Roger and Paul were Stan Barton and George Markovich.  They still used private boats until the club grew so much that insurance became an issue, and it was decided to book trips with local boat companies.

The first ocean cruise was in the Caribbean booked for January 2002.  It was a one-week cruise, and four bus loads went.  Since then, nearly every year another big cruise is taken as well as short overnighters when available.

Today there are 300 members with a Waitlist.

Adding to the monthly trips there are four big yearly events here at the clubhouse.  The Welcome Back party every Fall, the Mix and Mingle party to welcome new members, the Commodore's Ball and the Bon Voyage Party.  The first Commodore Ball took place in 2002.  The Bon Voyage party was originally a beach party then changed into a pool party.
