The Lexington Boat Club’s Annual Changing of the Guard Gala is one of our most anticipated events of the year, and this year’s theme, Light up the Night, promises to deliver an evening of dazzling glamour, impeccable style, and unforgettable memories. This formal event is a celebration of leadership, as we bid farewell to our outgoing Commodore and welcome our new Commodore to lead our club into a new chapter. With live music by the renowned Z Street Band from Band Source Productions, exquisite dining, and a sophisticated atmosphere, this is a night you won’t want to miss.

Evening Schedule:

1. Cocktail Hour
   The evening will begin with a stylish cocktail hour, setting the tone for the glamorous night ahead. Guests will gather in an elegantly decorated space, where they can enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, fine wines, and an array of hors d'oeuvres. The cocktail hour offers the perfect opportunity to mingle, catch up with friends, and meet fellow club members in a sophisticated and relaxed atmosphere. The air will be filled with a sense of excitement as members prepare for the evening’s festivities.
2. Formal Dinner
   Following the cocktail hour, guests will move to the dining room where a gourmet, multi-course dinner will be served. The venue will be transformed into a refined dining space with luxurious table settings and elegant floral centerpieces. The warm, ambient lighting will create a glamorous atmosphere, inviting guests to indulge in a sophisticated culinary experience.
   The dinner menu will feature a selection of carefully crafted dishes designed to please the palate. Expect an exquisite array of appetizers, elegant entrées, and a decadent dessert. 
3. Changing of the Guard Ceremony
   A key moment of the evening is the Changing of the Guard ceremony, where the outgoing Commodore will pass the torch of leadership to the new Commodore. This ceremonial moment is a heartfelt tradition, recognizing the hard work, dedication, and service of the outgoing leader while welcoming the new leader into their role.
   The outgoing Commodore will share a few remarks, reflecting on their time in office and the accomplishments of the club under their leadership. The new Commodore will then be formally introduced ushering in a new era for the Lexington Boat Club. This is a pivotal moment for the club and a highlight of the evening’s festivities.
4. Dancing & Entertainment with the Z Street Band
   Following the ceremony, the evening will shift into full celebration mode with music from the Z Street Band, courtesy of Band Source Productions. Known for their dynamic energy and wide-ranging repertoire, the Z Street Band will provide a mix of jazz, swing, and upbeat dance music that will transport you straight to the Jazz Age. From classic standards to contemporary hits, the band will keep the dance floor buzzing all night long.
   The dance floor will be open for all guests to join in the fun—whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just there to enjoy the music. The rhythm of the band will encourage guests to get their feet moving. The Puttin’ on the Ritz theme will come alive with the energy of the band and the stylish glamour of the evening.

Dress Code:

Guests are encouraged to don their most elegant attire. The Puttin’ on the Ritz theme calls for all things glamorous, with a nod to the lavish elegance of the Roaring Twenties. For women, think elegant dresses. Men are encouraged to wear tuxedos, bow ties, and polished dress shoes, channeling the charm and sophistication of the Jazz Age. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your style and embrace the extravagance of the evening.

Décor and Atmosphere:

The entire venue will be transformed into an opulent ballroom. Think bold geometric shapes, sparkling gold accents, luxurious fabrics, and vintage glamour. The lighting will be soft yet dramatic, with chandeliers casting a warm glow over the dining and dancing areas. The overall atmosphere will evoke the elegance and a sophisticated gala, making this a truly immersive experience.

This isn’t your average tiki boat - it’s “The Oasis”. Step aboard and experience the ultimate 

floating lounge, complete with plush seating, a state-of-the-art surround sound system, dazzling LED lights, and even a fully electric bathroom for your comfort. Add in a cash bar for your favorite drink, and you’ve got the perfect setting for a day of fun on the water.

Put your music knowledge to the test as we play lively rounds of Music Trivia - from classics to today’s hits. Sing along, laugh with friends and maybe even score a prize or bragging rights as the day’s top music master. Great tunes, good company, and a one-of-a- kind tiki boat adventure - it’s a day of trivia, Oasis style.

Join us for a lovely day on the water to Boca Grande (Gasparilla). Rent golf carts to get around

the island which needs to be done ahead of the trip. (see golf cart rentals below)

There’s nothing quite like pulling into the dock, stepping off the boar, and hopping into a golf

cart to explore the island. On Gasparilla, golf cards aren’t just transportation – they’re part of

the experience.

Cruising along the palm-lined streets of Boca Grande at a relaxed island pace lets you truly take

it all in. You can wind your way through charming neighborhoods, stop at local shops, grab an

ice cream or fresh seafood lunch, and park just about anywhere with ease. The slower speed

makes everything feel unhurried – exactly how island life should be.

A golf cart ride out to the historic lighthouse at the southern tip offers beautiful views and great

photo opportunities. Along the way, you will pass gorgeous homes, banyan trees, and glimpses

End-of-Season Celebration at the Lexington Boat Club

The party will take place in the Vista room in the clubhouse where games will be played in the Verda room offering the ideal atmosphere for relaxation and fun. There’s something for everyone.
